Mary Deborah Hunter Beman was very active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) for 30 years. She was District Director (state officers of the WCTU attended her funeral). She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Watertown. Her Death Certificate from Codington Co, South Dakota lists her death in Watertown on February 4, 1932 at age 72 years. Her parents are listed as David D. Hunter and Sara Jeffries by D.L. Beman (informant). Cause of death was certified by H.T. Kenney, M.D., as acute cardiac failure due to broncho-pneumonia probably flu origin. Birth records of three of her children list her age as 30 in 1888, 32 in 1892, and 35 in 1894. Her nationality is listed as American; she was born in Kendalville, IA.
