Steve was born in Collinwood, Ohio and shortly thereafter, with his parents, moved to Oakland
, Ca. Steve attended schools in Oakland and in November 1915, the Patterson family left Oakl
and and settled in the Galt area, their first home being on Mcfarland Ave. Steve worked fo
r various farmers in the area and took his first job with Sego Milk Company in 1918. He work
ed there until 1929 and then went into business for himself. In 1931, he sold his service st
ation and went back to Sego Milk Co( then known as Pet Milk Co) and remained with them unti
l the company ceased operation in 1963. He has been a member of the Galt Fire Dept since 193
8 and was on the board of directors. He loved to play golf and to work in the garden. He ro
de his bike up into his late years. A graveside service was held Wednesday, Oct. 14. Ben Sa
las funeral home was in charge with Pastor Jay Pierce officiating. Papa loved to make things
. He made Stephanie and Joey Novo small desks and Joe Novo a large outside chair.
