Line in Record @I1652@ (RIN 27) from GEDCOM file not recognized: CAUS Lockjay Line in Record @I1652@ (RIN 27) from GEDCOM file not recognized: BAPM Doris Eloise passed away Thursday morning, May 4, 1939, at 3 o'clock in a Sacramento hospital , after an illness of but a few days. She was a native of Galt, born May 5, 1930, and woul d have celebrated her ninth birthday today. Eloise was injured about a week ago, when she fe ll from her bicycle and wounded her knee. The injury did not seem bo be very painful, as sh e was out playing with her schoolmates on Sunday. However, on Monday afternoon she complaine d of severe pains in her jaws and the physicians diagnosed it as lockjaw. She was taken to t he hospital Tuesday, and when her parents visited her Wednesday afternoon she seemed to be ge tting along very well. About 11 o'clock Wednesday night she took a turn for the worse, and h er parents were summoned and arrived at the hospital around midnight. They were at the bedsi de until she passed away at 3 o'clock. When word was brought to Galt of Eloise's passing awa y it was a terrible shock to all who knew her. She was such a happy, bright, cheerful and pl easant child that everyone who knew her loved her. She was a great favorite with her schoolm ates in the local Grammar School, and the sympathy of the entire community goes out to the be reaved family. The remains are at the Hale & Balden chapel in Lodi, where funeral services w ill be held Saturday afternoon with Rev. L.F. Hawley officiating. Interment will be in the G alt I.O.O.F cemetery. The grave itself is but a covered bridge, Leading from light to light , Through a brief darkness.
