Member of the Methodist Church in Rockton *His wife was his second cousin. 1840 census - OHIO, Ashtabula Co, Harpersfield, lists Sylvester Bartholomew with males 30-40 and less than 5 and a female 20-30. (This fits perfectly). 1850 census - IL, Winnebago Co, Roscoe lists Sylvester (42-Cooper-OH) and Calista (35-OH) Bartholemew with Orson T/L. (14-OH), Arthur C. (9-OH), Sevelle (5-OH) and Edwin(2/12-IL) Bartholomew plus Asenith (14-OH) and Rosetta (13-OH) Johnson. 1860 census - IL, Winnebago Co, Roscoe, Rockton Village, 10th AUG, p. 405: lists Sylvester (52-Carpenter-OH) and Calista (45-OH) Bartholomew with Orson (24) and Sevill (15). Presumeably Edwin should be with the family (age 10), but is not. Arthur Bartholomew (17-OH) is with David (34-Scotland) and Amelia E. (27-CN [Canada?]) Hudson in Rockton Village, p. 407, 10th AUG. 1870 Census: IL, Winnebago Co., Rockton Twp., PO=Rockton, 5 AUG lists Sylvester (62-OH) and Calista (54-OH) Bartholomew with Parmelia Bartholomew (58-OH; she is sister of Sylvester). In the same location, 1 AUG are Orson (33-OH) and Mary (31-Canada) Bartholomew. 1880 census: IL, Winnebago Co., Rockton Twp., 4 JUNE are Orson (44-OH-Retail Hardware) and wife Mary (42-Canada) Bartholomew with parents Sylvester (72-OH) and Celista (63-OH) and single aunt Parmelia (68-OH).
