'George C. Wall, 63 member of a longtime Paris family of reaturant and cafe men, died Saturda
y in the Veterans Hospital at Bonham (TX). He had served for a time in the Navy during Worl
d War II, but received a medical discharge. He was born in Paris, 23 Oct 1902, son of the la
te Manson S. and Amy Cabaniss Wall, and was a graduate of Paris High School and attended Pari
s Commercial College. He was a longtime operator of Wall's Cafe at the southeast corner of C
larksville and 1st SE, having sold it some years ago because of ill health. He was in the ca
fe business here from 1920 to 1950 and formerly lived at 936 E. Booth St. He was stationed a
t Camp Bradford, VA, during his Navy service. He had been a Deacon of First Presbyterian Chu
rch, member of the Knights of Pythias and Masonic Lodges and of the Chamber of Commerce. H
e married the former Miss Leona Grupe, 28 Jul 1922, her death occurring this year on Jul 13
. Survivors include his two children, George C. Wall, Jr., Tyler (TX), and Mrs. James (Carol
yn) Stuteville, Richardson (TX); four grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mrs. O.H. Grupe, Pari
s; a brother, Manson Wall, Ft. Worth (TX); and a niece and nephew. Funeral Service will be h
eld Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Fry and Gibbs Chapel, conducted by the C.G. Forthman, pastor of Fi
rst Presbyterian Church. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will rece
ive friends at the Grupe home, 3825 Lamar Road.'
