Sources:John W. McClure served during the Civil War in Co. F, 99th Regiment Infantry, Indiana Volunteers; they participated in many battles, as well as Sherman's March to the Sea. Pension records give his date of birth, marriage date, date of death. His wife, Melvina Harper, applied for a widow's pension following his death. Her application contains her date of birth and marriage date. A copy of their marriage license from Montgomery Co, IL on 26th July 1871, confirms the date. Burial dates and place of interment are also verified by obituaries and death certificates.
