In 1777 a three pronged attack by Britain and their
Indian allies was made on Albany to split the States.

 
 
This map was drawn to show the overall view of Tryon County over New York and the major invasion routes of the enemy. In 1777, a three pronged attack was planned to take Albany and cut the States in two. St. Leger brought his force in from Lake Ontario and across the ancient portage toward the Mohawk River. Another army came south from Montreal and there was continued pressure from the British fleet in the Hudson. - Rick Harper
