Message couched in such firm, but I hope
purdent Terms that I expect it will have
the desired effect and that we shall have no
farther Trouble from that Fellow and his Asso=
=ciates, but however I should be mistaken in
my Conjecture I have ordered Colo: VanSchaick
into that Quarter with one Hundred and fifty
men to protect the Inhabitants and have di=
=rected him in the Sm'o of Conduct he is to hold,
which is to be such as not to give Umbrage to
our Indian Allias.
         At twelve I received an Express from Gene=
=ral St.Clair - Copies of his Lettrs No. 3 & 4
with Copy of the Letter to General Sullivan No5
No. 3 & 4 Missing

shall go judged most conducive for the public

          NB. The Day of Brandts appearance at
Tunadilay was the second of June._All the Fami=
=lies that were earnest in the Country's Cause —
have fled to save their Lives and Effects to which
were apparently in the greatest Danger.
