Map
of the Patents and Land Purchases in Northeastern New York |
|
This map is a close-up of the land grants and purchases in northeastern New York State. The value of this map to us is that it shows the location of the various Patents and their relationship to other areas including Cherry Valley, Fort Hunter, the Indian Castles, Schenectady and Albany. Note also the Harpersfield Patent is identified on this map as Wm Harper. The information used in the maps' preparation was undoubtedly taken from the Patent map prepared by the Colony for John Harper's oldest son, William, prior to the American Revolution. The full map measures 52 by 63 cm and shows northeastern New York State and granted townships in Vermont and parts of New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Publication Date 1780 The full map is in the Library of Congress Geography and Map Division. |
